Hardware and Avionics Engineers

From the depths of the oceans to the depths of deep space, farSight Technologies is solving the problems that others have said are impossible. Along the way we are enabling exciting exploration and capabilities including commercial space flight, national security and homeland defense, space and earth science, international shipping and logistics, combatting drugs and human trafficking, protecting law enforcement and first responders, and searching the skies for hazardous asteroids.

Our unique company seeks out the “best of the best”, and our virtual office model means that we can build teams comprised of outstanding people – no matter where they choose to work, live, and play. We don’t subscribe to a 9-5, M-F plan, believing that the best people – the most creative and successful teammates – will work better if they work the way they work best. Leveraging today’s technology for interconnected workplaces and telepresence we are proud of the balance our teammates have been work, family, and personal ambitions.

farSight Technologies is looking to fill several avionics, communications, electronics, and electrical engineering positions with our rapidly growing team. Specific openings include roles for avionics systems engineers, hardware designers and developers, communications, navigation, IMU/INS, timing and time distribution engineers, DSP, signal detection, and signal processing engineers, and embedded, low-power, harsh-environment hardware engineers. Hands on experience in flight and ground test and field operations is a plus.

  • Avionics Systems Engineers: Aircraft, UAV/UAS, and space flight avionics. C&DH, GNC, flight instrumentation, science/mission instruments and payloads. System engineering and technical expertise to include requirements, system architecture, system decomposition, component specification and selection, hardware/software development and integration. Experience designing with EEE parts and for the space and high-altitude radiation environment, including understanding of radiation effects on electronics (to include mitigation techniques such as TMR and derating). Experience with Altium Designer, C/C++, embedded systems development and test is desired.

  • Communications & Navigation Engineers: RF, acoustic, and optical communication systems. Waveform design and selection. Familiarity with various modulation techniques including residual, suppressed, and sub-carrier modulations. Experience with both analog and digital elements of communications systems including antennas, amplifiers, filters, mixers, frequency source and frequency generation, power detection, ADC/DAC components, DSP and SDR elements, RF signal chain design, analysis, and specification. Navigation engineers should have experience with RF techniques including one- and two-way Doppler and ranging, PN-code metrology as well as with the analysis of navigation solution accuracy and performance based on metrology inputs. Additional experience in time source generation, time determination and time transfer, celestial radio and optical navigation, image and terrain position determination systems is desired. Experience using MATLAB / Simulink, STK, and the Ansys suite for modeling, simulation, design, and analysis is a plus.

  • Signal Processing Engineers: Analog and digital signal processing techniques including sampling and signal detection, signal conditioning, filters, FFT/Fourier analysis, pattern and image recognition, image synthesis. Experience implementing signal processing solutions in DSP, FPGA, GPU, and GPP-based architectures. Experience with signal processing techniques used in radio astronomy including image synthesis, interferometry, signal correlation and correlator design, the CASA software package, and CASPER platform architecture a plus. Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink and Altium Designer desired.

  • Hardware and Systems Designers: Analog and digital circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, PCB design, mechanical and thermal assembly design and integration. Electronics manufacturing including bills of materials, vendor selection, kitting of assemblies, board production, population, and test processes. Experience with space flight and sub-sea assemblies is desired. Knowledge of Altium Designer, Solidworks, and the Ansys tool suite is a plus.

About the position:

  • This is a full time, exempt, salaried position.

  • The successful candidate will be eligible for full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, and others.

  • This is primarily a “remote, work from home” position. farSight will provide all necessary IT and home office systems and software.

  • Limited travel is required.
